Privacy Policy

Notchy is a small window at the top of your screen that shows your Claude Code and Codex usage limits and which agent sessions are running. It has no account, no telemetry, no analytics and no ads. riecodes runs no server for it and never receives anything from your PC. The copy sold on this website also contacts Polar and this website, as described below; the Microsoft Store copy does neither.

What the app reads on your PC

Nothing is read until you finish the first-run screen, which says what follows.

• ~/.claude/.credentials.json: the login Claude Code already saved. Notchy uses its access token only to call Anthropic, as described below. It never refreshes, changes or copies the token.
• ~/.claude/sessions and the matching session transcripts in ~/.claude/projects: which Claude Code sessions are open, their folder name, whether they are busy, and three small facts from the transcript (the colour you set with /color, the session title, and an unmet /goal). Your prompts and the agent's replies are not read for anything else.
• ~/.codex/sessions and ~/.codex/auth.json: which Codex sessions are running, the rate limits Codex writes into its own logs, and your plan name. No Codex data leaves your PC.

What the app sends, and to whom

• Anthropic (api.anthropic.com), with your own Claude login: a request for your usage limits, the same one Claude Code makes for its /usage screen, and a request for your list of Claude Code sessions, the same list the Claude desktop app shows, so that sessions running in Anthropic's cloud appear in the notch. Both are read-only. Anthropic's own privacy policy applies to that data.
• Polar (api.polar.sh), web copy only: your license key and your PC's name when you activate it, then the key and its activation ID about once a week, to confirm the key is still valid. Polar's privacy policy applies to that data.
• This website (notchyforwindows.com; copies from before version 1.0.4 ask notchy.riecodes.com, the same site), web copy only: once a day, a request for a small file holding the newest version number, so the app can tell you an update exists. The request carries nothing about you, but like any web request it shows your IP address to the host, Vercel, which may keep it in its logs.
• Nobody else. The app makes no other network calls.

What the app writes

• Its settings and an error log in your Windows app data folder, on your PC only.
• Only if you switch them on: hook entries in ~/.claude/settings.json and ~/.codex/hooks.json, so the agents can tell Notchy the moment a permission prompt appears. A backup copy is written first, every other setting is left alone, and turning the switch off removes them.

The website

If you join the waitlist on notchyforwindows.com, your email address is stored in Google Firebase and used once, to tell you when Notchy ships. The site uses no analytics or advertising cookies. To have your address removed, email the address below.

Purchases

When you buy Notchy from the Microsoft Store, Microsoft handles the payment and its privacy statement applies. When you buy it on this website, Polar (polar.sh) is the merchant of record: it takes the payment, handles sales tax, and emails your receipt and license key, and its privacy policy applies. riecodes can see the email address, country and order that Polar records, and uses them only for your purchase and support. riecodes never receives card details.

Children

Notchy is a developer tool and is not directed at children. The app itself collects no personal information from anyone.
